Artist’s Bio
Darcie Peet has made the Colorado Rocky Mountains and Tucson Arizona’s Sonora Desert her home for over twenty years. Originally from the Midwest, Darcie grew up with a passion for the outdoors often drawing and painting her outdoor adventures throughout primary and secondary school. With a B.A. in Art and a M.A. in Interior Design, Darcie has taught art and pursued a multi-faceted career in graphic design, advertising and interior design. Her passion throughout has always been her painting and a love of the outdoors.
In Darcie’s own words….”So much of the exhilaration in painting is the initial quest, the journey in finding those “wild places”. Hiking, cycling, canoeing, riding and kayaking, I seek a vital sense of place and glimpse into the powerful personality of these back country spaces. I hope that a painting can spark deep personal memories for the viewer of a particular setting they too, may have visited. The painting “process”, the building blocks, the “getting there”, is my elation in a painting underway. Strokes are laid spontaneously next to another, rarely mixed with mediums or blended. With obvious “artists fingerprints” I strive to lay down paint and leave it fresh and energetic as possible, full of light and atmosphere.”
