Paul Dykman
Artist Bio
Paul Dykman is an artist with a vast subject range. He can best be described as a classically trained artist with the talent and ability to capture feeling. Paul’s strong use of light and his fine mastery of palette knife work make Paul one of the gallery’s most popular artists.
Paul was raised in a family of professional artists in South Africa and in keeping with the Dykman tradition, he was encouraged to draw and paint from an early age. He learned his art techniques from both his father and grandfather, some of South Africa’s most prominent artists in their time. At age thirteen, Paul sold one of his first paintings at a joint exhibition with his father at the Royal Agriculture Show in South Africa. He later went on to be represented in some of the South Africa’s finest art galleries.
In 1995, he and his family moved to the United States to further his artistic exposure. Paul has made Colorado his home for the past several years and his love of the West with its spectacular scenery and imagery has come alive within Paul’s paintings.
Paul was awarded the ASS Award for his painting “Shredding” exhibited with Paint the Parks in 2010 and his painting “A New Mare” is featured on the cover of this year’s June issue of “Rocky Mountain Rider” magazine. Paul’s works have also been juried into the C.M. Russell Art Auction.
